Community Reporting in the Swedish Pilot of CoSIE
In Sweden, the stories that were gathered were from adults with disabilities and additional needs (i.e. Autistic adults, migrants etc.), and professionals working with piloting service improvements. The stories gathered focused on three key topics: (1) people’s needs and independent living, (2) experiences of the support services for adults with disabilities and additional needs, and (3) experiences of working in support services for adults with disabilities and additional needs. You can access the stories here.
In the Swedish pilot, there was one main purpose for utilising the Community Reporting methodology:
An insight tool: To gather and curate insight stories about disabled people’s, and other adult groups with additional support needs (i.e. migrants), experiences of support services, and wider understandings of their lives, coupled with a smaller reflection of professionals’ experiences of working in these sectors. This supported the pilot to think differently about the ways in which they were capturing and working with the ‘voices’ of the people they engaged with and provided support with needs analysis for the pilot.
It’s a very powerful tool as you can easily use it to take a service user’s perspective and you get more personal understandings.
